Comments: Stamford is a large station on the Metro-North commuter railroad. It's where local service (stations between Grand Central Terminal, NYC and Stamford) end, and where the express service begins. Metro-North connects with Connecticut-sponsored "Shore Line East" regional rail. Ticket booths for Metro-North are manned, with long hours, plus ticket machines. Amtrak staff hours are shorter but there are also ticket machines. Taxis at the station idling all but the wee hours of the morning. Large waiting area. elevators, escalators, handicapped accessible. Several hotels a short cab ride or moderate walk away. Many corporate headquarters within walking distance. Local Connecticut buses stop here as well, it's called the "Stamford Transportation Center." Connecticut Limo shuttles to the major NY airports may stop here as well.
