Comments: Kansas City, MO station is located inside (as a part of) the beautifully renovated Union Station. The area across the street from the station is known as Crown Plaza, and houses the headquarters of Hallmark Greeting Cards. It includes Fritz's Railroad Restaurant, where your order is delivered to you on your own personal train! Several hotels in the area - two, upscale hotels across the street - one has an elevated enclosed walkway from Union Station to the hotel (Westin Crown Center). The station is located on the south side of the downtown area. Taxi service is always available and usually waiting at the front of Union Station. Parking is in an enclosed multi-level lot. There is free parking for a short period and after that it is ten dollars per day. The station has food service during the day - a cafe/sandwich location and an upscale dining establishment. The station is staffed for all arrivals and departures, with baggage service for trains 3 and 4 (Southwest Chief). There is also a Quik-Trak ticket machine. |
