The House did not resume action today on H.R.2247, the Amtrak reauthorization bill. Rather, action is postponed until about 11:00 am Eastern time tomorrow.

There will be a very damaging amendment from LaTourette (R.-Ohio). He plans an amendment to gut the labor reforms. At that point, we expect an amendment from Quinn (R.-N.Y.) that would, in effect, be a substitute to the LaTourette amendment and neutralize it.

Amtrak's future depends on the outcome. Call your Representative early tomorrow and urge a "yes" vote on Quinn, and a "no" vote on LaTourette. Also urge a "yes" vote on the whole bill, H.R.2247. The Capitol switchboard number is 202/224-3121.
