SIGNERS OF HOUSE LETTER URGING AMTRAK FUNDING
June 26,
2003
About half the Members of the House of Representatives -- 219 of them --
sent appropriators a letter the week of June 26, urging funding for Amtrak in
2004 in the amount of $1.812 billion -- the amount Amtrak says it needs both to
avoid a shutdown crisis and to begin returning the passenger railroad to a
"state of good repair."
